High Hi

Yesterday, on a warm Saturday evening, I found myself at yet another High Hi show.

And once again, the Belgian alternative pop band proved exactly why they've won 'De nieuwe lichting' & Humo's rock rally.

From the moment they hit the stage, High Hi brought the energy. Tight musicianship, infectious melodies and seemingly endless stamina made for a performance that never lost momentum.

Frontwoman Anne-Sophie makes it all look effortless. While delivering crystal-clear vocals, she's constantly moving across the stage, guitar in hand, radiating joy & confidence.

It's the kind of performance that looks easy until you realize just how much skill it actually takes.

A special shout-out also goes to drummer Dieter. As if playing drums wasn't demanding enough, he somehow manages to sing at the same time. Keeping different rhythms going with hands and feet while staying on pitch, remembering lyrics, controlling his breathing and keeping perfect timing feels like a superpower. Meanwhile, some of us struggle to walk through a doorway without bumping into it.

In the end, it was simply a great concert and one I thoroughly enjoyed.

To borrow the words of Bob Marley: "Sun was shining, the weather wassweet, yeah, made you want to move your dancing feet."
